Business information on BestKtown arrives two ways: entered by the owner, or compiled by us from openly licensed public data. Every business page indicates which of the two it is.
1. Public data we use
-
Overture Maps Foundation
CDLA-Permissive-2.0 · Apache-2.0 · CC0-1.0Business names, categories, addresses, phone numbers, websites, and coordinates. Open map data contributed by Meta, Microsoft, Foursquare, AllThePlaces, and others.
Foursquare Open Source Places — Copyright 2024 Foursquare Labs, Inc. (Apache License 2.0)
-
NYC Open Data
Public domainBusiness names, addresses, phone numbers, and cuisine types from NYC DOHMH restaurant inspection results.
-
Public Korean-American directories
Factual informationConsulted only to confirm Korean-language business names. Facts such as a name, address, or phone number are not copyrightable, and no compilation was copied.
All of the above is distributed under licenses that permit commercial use, and the attribution each provider requires appears on this page and in the site footer.
2. What we do not use
We do not use Google Maps or Google Places data. The Google Maps Platform Terms prohibit storing or redistributing its content and prohibit using it to build a comparable directory. No BestKtown listing contains data taken from Google.
We do not collect credit information, government identification numbers, or other sensitive personal data from any source.
3. Listings not created by the owner
We list only information a business already publishes to operate: name, category, address, and phone number. Such listings are marked unclaimed and are limited as follows.
- They do not accept reservations, orders, or inquiries — there is no owner on the other end to receive them.
- We do not invent menus, prices, or any other content on the owner’s behalf.
- Once ownership is verified, the owner can edit the listing and start accepting bookings and orders.
Public data can contain businesses that have closed or details that have changed. If you find something wrong, please tell us.
4. Correction and removal requests
The Suggest an edit link at the bottom of each business page lets you request three things.
- Correction — when an address, phone number, or category is wrong
- Ownership transfer — when the owner wants to manage the listing
- Removal — when you do not want to be listed
If you ask us to remove a listing, we remove it — no reason required. Where we need to confirm you represent the business, we unpublish the listing first and confirm afterwards. You may also write to Contact Us or support@bestktown.com.
5. Updates
When we add new regions and use additional public sources, this page is updated first. Last updated: August 29, 2026.
